What is Spirit & Place Festival all about?

Scheduled for November 4-13, 2016, the 21st annual Spirit & Place Festival is an extensive civic celebration that engages more than 19,000 people throughout Central Indiana in dozens of programs presented by more than 100 organizations. Its mission is to promote civic engagement, respect for diversity, thoughtful reflection, public imagination, and enduring change through creative collaboration among arts, humanities, and religion.

As Maya Angelou said, “The ache for home lives in all of us, the safe place where we can go as we are and not be questioned.”  The geography of home is complex and nuanced. Home is where we start from; home is where we are; home is what we long for. Home is about place, relationships, opportunities, identity, community and connections. This year the festival will explore HOME in our individual and community life during Indiana’s bicentennial year.

Join us in November to witness audacious performances, exhibits, original plays, thoughtful discussions, hands-on workshops, and other engaging programs that explore HOME. Visit www.spiritandplace.org for more information.
